Director and cast confirmed on Chris Brown's next film "Phenom"

Teenaged girls across the country are rejoicing. Although we have been covering Chris Brown's next film Phenom for awhile now, The Variety has now confirmed David Anspaugh (Hoosiers, Rudy) will be directing. Anspaugh is also scheduled to direct 4Chosen which currently has Ne-yo attached. With Anspaugh, a well respected figure in the film industry, attached to this film, expect Chris Brown to get a legitamite shot at taking his young film career to the next level as well.

In Phenom, Chris Brown will play a standout high school basketball player who goes pro after the media discovers he's the illegitimate son of the NBA's best player. Then in dramatic fashion, father and son are on a collision course as their teams meet on the road to the playoffs. The film will also star Vanessa Williams and is scheduled to begin shooting after Chris' current "Exclusive" tour is over. Phenom is scheduled to release January 16, 2009.

Chris Brown with new TV show

Chris_brown_tv_show
Nickelodeon has green lit a reality TV pilot about Chris Brown and his two kid backup dancers 11-year-old Scooter and 9-year-old Miles. The reality show will take us behind the scenes from the two dancer's perspectives as they go on tour with Chris.

The pilot will air as a special on Nickelodeon, but the airdate has not been determined. Although Chris is establishing himself as a legit actor in film, this is his first TV project (not counting those guest appearances on "The OC.") Personally I would rather see Chris in the TV show "The Adventures of Chris Brown and His Bright Red Gay Backpack."

"This Christmas" a Thanksgiving weekend hit

Thisxmas2
This Christmas exceeded box office expectations and grossed a total of $27.1million for the five day Thanksgiving weekend, second to only Disney's Enchanted. "The movie has universal appeal," Sony distribution president Rory Bruer said. "It's one of the movies that audiences just totally embraced."

While exit polls showed the audience did love This Christmas, I'm not too sure on the "universal appeal" angle as 65% of the audience was African-American and the other 35% were probably fifteen year old teenieboppers watching it for Chris Brown. Regardless, This Christmas only cost $13 million to make...the only computer enhanced graphics were just Lauren London's chest. With the amount of money Sony is going to make on this one expect sequels meant for "universal appeal" such as This Chinese New Years, This Hanukkah, This Flag Day and This Canadian Thanksgiving.

Chris Brown says he's in movies to prove he can sing. Chris Brown proves he should never talk.

Chris_brown

"Almost got it. Almost got it. Ahhhh much better." In a recent interview with MTV, Chris talks about his upcoming film This Christmas and his motivations for accepting the role of the youngest son of the family who wants to be a singer...

"With 'This Christmas,' let me just try to show people me singing — showing all the artists who maybe think I'm a mediocre singer or [think I] just do those catchy records, don't really sing and challenge [myself],I really wanted to show people that I'm a singer..."

Usually when musicians want to prove to the world they can sing, they put out a good album, do some acoustic tours and live award show performances. But not Chris Brown. To prove he can sing...he gets a role in a movie. Yes he sings in the movie...but maybe perhaps a music album...with music can prove his point a bit better. Next he is going to say about his next album "I just want to really prove that I'm a good actor. That I can really be a legit actor on this album."

I can't wait to see what he says about his next movie Phenom where he plays a basketball player. Probably something like..."I took this role because I want to prove that I can play basketball and sing...at the same time." Here is the original MTV interview with him.

If you are a dude...don't you kinda want to smack that grin off of Chris Brown's face? Why should he be in the front of the family photo? He's like 6 ft. tall...get in the back foo!If you are a female under the age of 21....OH MY GOSH IT'S CHRIS BROWN!!!! As much as I diss him for some reason I still manage to write about him more than a thirteen year old girl in her diary. So girls...this one's for you. As we know, Chris is starring in this new movie This Christmas which is about a family getting together for the holidays for the first time in four years.

Chris Brown plays NBA star in "Phenom"

Cb
That's right. I'm not talking about the Christmas movie that he will be in that also stars Mekhi Phifer as Santa Clause. All the hip-hop sites are talking about that movie...but we got the inside stuff on Chris' movie AFTER the pansy Christmas one.

Phenom is in the early stages of development by Sony Screen Gems with shooting scheduled for later this year and will be Chris' newest film project. Produced by the same guy who is doing Notorious (B.I.G. biopic), Phenom is about a young NBA star (Brown) who went straight from high school to the pros, only to find out that he is the illegitimate son of an aging NBA player. And guess who he has to go head-to-head against in the playoffs? That's right...Vlade Divac...ok ok...he has to play against his dad. His dad!

This sounds pretty much like it's based on a true story because isn't Kobe really Dikembe Mutombo's long lost son? Anyways, it will be a while until any footage comes out. Should be interesting though...to me Chris Brown as an NBA star is about as believable as Mekhi Phifer as Santa Clause. Besides, what would Chris do without his red back pack on the b-ball court?
