Official movie poster for Andre Benjamin's next film

We covered Andre Benjamin's next movie Battle in Seattle a long time ago including exclusive first look photos of Andre in the movie. Now the official movie poster has finally been released and is shown here. Even with all the famous names in this movie it's nice to see Andre getting some love as he is smack right in the middle of this art. Check out the trailer after the jump. Andre plays a Seattle protester caught up in one of the biggest protest turned riots in Seattle history. Film comes out in the U.S. some time in September...

Andre Benjamin's "Semi-Pro" looks to have big weeekend

New Line Cinema has a sure hit on their hands with the Will Ferrell and Andre Benjamin comedy Semi-Pro opening in theaters today. So how does New Line celebrate? By folding their company into Warner Brothers. We all knew it was coming here in Hollywood and I even wrote a piece last month how if New Line folded it might affect the producing deals it has with Dr. Dre, T.I. and Kanye West. You can read about it here and I'll definitely have an update once I find out more.

But on to the good news. Semi-Pro. With no major competitor in sight, very strong interest in tracking reports and a cast that appeals to all demographics, Semi-Pro is expected to perform at or above Blades of Glory numbers which is about $30 million for the weekend and slightly over $100 million total. It would be a stretch to beat the $148 million that Talladega Nights made but regardless it looks to easily be Andre Benjamin's biggest movie of his career. The biggest surprise? Critics actually like it too.

Andre Benjamin in series finale of "The Shield"

In an interview with the website Black Film, Andre Benjamin talks about his upcoming role in the series finale of the hit FX show "The Shield." The seventh and final season of "The Shield" will begin this summer and ends on the 13th and final episode. In that episode Andre says "I'm actually playing a guy running for mayor in the show finale. My character was first introduced years ago in a small role."

Andre actually made his acting debut on "The Shield" four years ago where he played a comic book store owner by the name of Robert Huggins. From comic book store owner to running for mayor...not a bad run. You can also check Andre out this Friday in the Will Ferrell comedy Semi-Pro.

Andre Benjamin talks about his Benjamin Bixley clothing line

As we previously mentiond, Andre Benjamin previewed his fashion line called Benjamin Bixley to a select few last week. Clothing line is inspired by football players of the 1930's, which includes collegiate themes and athletic detailing. Well New York Magazine has just published a great story on Andre and his clothing line which includes details such as Benjamin's desire to have the Benjamin Bixley line in Barney's by this fall and how his entire 70 piece collection is completley self funded. Andre Benjamin introduces his Benjamin Bixby fashion line

Andre Benjamin has finally unveiled his long awaited Benjamin Bixby clothing line to select press. Clothing line is inspired by football players of the 1930's, which includes collegiate themes and athletic detailing like the his apparel shown in the image above. Andre, who has always been known as an eclectic fashion maven, has carefully designed over seventy pieces for his Benjamin Bixby collection which include wool sweaters, corduroy blazers, high-waisted trousers and more traditional polos. No exact date has been reported for the launch of the label but it is aimed for a Fall release. Via: Prohiphop

New Line Cinema marketing is in full swing now as the February 29th release date of the Will Ferrell and Andre 3000 basketball comedy Semi-Pro is fast approaching. Complex Magazine's latest issue sports the two on the cover along with some pretty funny editorial and photos shown after the jump. Make sure to check out Will's viral music video "Love Me Sexy" here as well. New Line also has another "hip-hop artist with comedy actor" buddy comedy with Mos Def and Jack Black in the upcoming Be Kind Rewind. Via: Nahright

New "Semi-Pro" music video with Will Ferrell & Andre 3000

New Line Cinema has released the music video to "Love Me Sexy" sung by none other than Will Ferrell in character as Jackie Moon for the upcoming basketball comedy Semi-Pro. Andre Benjamin is featured in the video but unfortunately does not have a guest appearance rap verse...but maybe New Line is saving that for the remix. The 70's sound of this song would also go perfect with a Snoop Dogg "Sensual Seduction" line or two as well. Semi-Pro is due in theaters next month on February 29th.

New Line Cinema has released the official poster for the upcoming Andre 3000 and Will Ferrell basketball comedy Semi-Pro which comes to theaters February 29, 2008. It's nice to see Andre getting prominent placement on the artwork here. From the early cuts of the film he definitely has a major role as Clarence "Coffee Black" Withers where he is the shooting guard for the Flint Tropics basketball team and has some hilarious parts of the movie.
