A look inside the "American Gangster" DVD

WoooHah.com has been fortunate enough to get an inside look at the Collector's Edition of the upcoming American Gangster DVD release which is due out Feb 19th. Here's a quick break down of what to expect:
Unrated and Extended Cut
Both the 2-Disc and the 3-Disc Collector's Editions of the DVD contain the unrated extended cut of the film and the theatrical version. If I'm doing my math right, the unrated extended cut is actually pretty substantial clocking in at an additional 20 minutes. This bring the unrated extended cut to a lengthy run time of 2 hours and 56 minutes of Blue Magic fun. I recommend watching this version over the theatrical...it's the true representation of what Ridley Scott and Frank Lucas wanted.
Collectible Book
Exclusive to only the 3-Disc Collector's Edition, basically a small collectible flip book with large photos and notes and interviews from the filmmakers and cast and behind the scenes details of how the movie came to existence.
Bonus Features
Both the 2-Disc and the 3-Disc Collector's Edition have your typical bonus features which include director commentary, an alternate opening, behind-the-scenes and makin-of features. The 3-Disc contains extra features including the "Blue Magic" video from Jay-Z, hip-hop feature with T.I. and Common and a Dateline NBC special. The added disc also contains a digital file of the movie to play on your computer.
WoooHah.com's Recommendation
Regardless if you want the 2-Disc or 3-Disc it don't matter...you still have to get this DVD. The unrated extended cut is worth the watch, the features are great...and well we all know it's a great movie. The Collector's Edition is definitely for the hardcore fan and has cool packaging as well. The only thing missing is a nice collectible packet of Blue Magic.

Awesome update here. Thanks for the review. I'm getting the 3-disc
